Three men have been fatally shot Tuesday on the West and Far South Sides, including a 76-year-old man, police said. One other man was shot and wounded Tuesday evening.
Most recently in the city's University Village neighborhood, a man in his 40s was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the 1000 block of West Maxwell Street about 6 p.m., said Officer Kevin Quaid, a spokesman for the Chicago police.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, said Quaid, who added the death is being investigatated as a homicide.
In a separate attack on the West Side another man was fatally shot. It happened about 4 p.m. in the 0-100 block of South Leamington Avenue in the city's Austin neighborhood, police said.
The victim, a 33-year-old man, was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition but he later died, authorities said.
The 76-year-old was found shot to death around noon Tuesday in the Golden Gate neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.
The man was in the 13200 block of South Riverdale Avenue when someone shot him, according to police. He suffered gunshot wounds to the buttocks and face. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
