Authorities charged two West Side men in four separate armed robberies after arresting them Tuesday.
Arneal Thornton, 19, and Robert Rhodes, 18, were charged with four felony counts of robbery while being armed with a firearm, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.
Police arrested both men Tuesday after identifying them as the attackers involved in a robbery that happened same day at 4:50 p.m. in the 2600 block of West 23 Street, the release said.
The armed attackers approached a 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman and demanded their belongings. Once the victims complied, the attackers fled in a four-door Pontiac, according to the release.
A short time later, police officers spotted the attackers’ vehicle. The car came to a stop on the 3900 block of West Grenshaw Street where Thornton was taken into custody, the release said.
Rhodes tried to run away but was placed into custody after a brief foot chase, the release said.
Both Thornton and Rhodes were identified as the attackers in three other robberies, but Chicago Police News Affairs could not immediately say when or where those robberies occurred.
Thornton, of the 3300 block of West Ohio Street, and Rhodes, of the 5500 block of West Congress Parkway, are scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court Thursday.
