Inmates take over Tom Dart's lockup..
Tom Dart's beloved house inmates have taken over his courthouse lockup.... They have become increasingly emboldened due to understaffing and lack of consequences for criminal acts .. Markham courthouse lockup has had 8 incidences of inmate and or officer assaults just in the last few months..
Numerous sources say the good inmates are being subjected to harassment and physical abuse by other inmates on almost a daily basis. The officers are outnumbered in some cases 50/1 and have had to wait to backup while other inmates are being assaulted.. Tom Dart has only authorized two tasers which are secured in the office..
While assaults are occurring on inmates and officers it has taken up to 20 minutes for a taser to get to the lockup.. Sources say the lockup had a minimum staffing of 10 male officers in the past and is now at times now shockingly staffed with only one deputy on the weekends..
Sources claim Chief Brad Curry and Kevin Connelly are burying numerous staffing complaints and officer/inmate assaults to get favor from Sheriff Dart, saving on overtime costs.. Sources also claim inmates who start the fights in the lockup are getting NO privileges taken away from them at the jail..
Reports also claim the assaulted inmates are offered perks to refuse medical attention or report the incident.. One inmate assaulted two other inmates, kicked out glass and then threatened officers and inmates with the glass..
DOC source says that inmate had no privileges taken away because Dart's shrinks determined him to be mentally ill, therefore he was not responsible for his actions..
