A 5-year-old boy Austin Ramos Jr. of Beloit was shot and killed Friday night in Beloit, police said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. near the intersection of Prairie Ave. and Shopiere Road, according to a post on the Beloit Police Department Facebook page.
The boy was in his father's car when shots were fired from another car and police were looking for a maroon SUV seen leaving the scene, police said.
Police were asking the public to avoid the area Friday night, however no further information on the shooting was available.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Beloit police.
