A man was beaten to death early Thursday near the Illinois Institute of Technology in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The 36-year-old man was found lying on the ground with blood and signs of physical trauma on his face at 5:00 a.m. in the 3000 block of South Wabash Avenue, police said.
According to preliminary information, he got into a fight with an acquaintance, a 43-year-old man, who hit him with an unknown object, police said.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.
The 43-year-old man was taken into custody, police said.
