Jason Tyler Roesler leaps 20 feet down off I-35 WHILE HANDCUFFED behind his back - suspect tried to bribe officer

A handcuffed domestic violence suspect's desperate leap off an elevated portion of Interstate 35 near the "can of worms" interchange in Duluth — and his subsequent attempts to bribe an officer — proved unsuccessful Sunday, according to charges filed in State District Court.

Jason Tyler Roesler allegedly jumped 20 feet off the interstate, telling an officer, "See ya later, buddy." But the escape proved to be short-lived, as he was quickly re-apprehended with help from a good Samaritan, according to the charges.

Roesler, 30, was arraigned Wednesday in Duluth on three felony charges. Judge Theresa Neo set his bail at $20,000.

According to a criminal complaint:

Police responded to the Super 8 motel at 4100 W. Superior St. just before noon Sunday on a domestic violence report. A woman told officers that Roesler had covered her mouth and nose with his hand, preventing her from breathing, and refused to allow her to leave the room during the night.
